Raipur, 11 January 2025: The Central Government has approved 3 lakh 3 thousand 384 additional houses to Chhattisgarh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin. Union Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh has written a letter to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and informed Chhattisgarh about the approval of three lakh three thousand 384 additional Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas. Chief Minister Sai has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Rural Development and Agriculture Minister for this decision taken in the interest of the homeless of Chhattisgarh. Shivraj Singh informed in the letter that including this additional approval, now in the financial year 2024-25, Chhattisgarh has been given a target of total 11 lakh 65 thousand 315 Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Samagra Vikas.

Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh informed that the Rural Development Ministry has implemented the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin from 1 April 2016 with the aim of providing housing for all in the rural areas of the country. The objective of this scheme is to provide assistance to eligible rural families for the construction of pucca houses with amenities. He informed that in the meeting of the Union Cabinet held on 9 August 2024, the scheme for construction of two crore additional houses has been approved to be continued till March 2029 to meet the increasing housing requirement in rural areas. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin, Chhattisgarh was allotted a target of 8,61 931 houses from the Socio Economic Caste Census 2011 based permanent waiting list and Awas Plus 2018 survey list in the financial year 2024-25. He informed that the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India has allotted an additional target of 3,03,384 houses from the final Awas Plus 2018 survey list for Chhattisgarh during the financial year 2024-25 under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin. This is an important step towards Government of India’s commitment of Housing for All for the rural areas of the country. Shivraj Singh informed that the state of Chhattisgarh has now been allotted an overall target of 11,65,315 houses in 2024.
