Raipur 11 January 2025: The objective with which our country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Swachh Bharat Mission in 2014 is now being realized in Chhattisgarh. There is widespread awareness among the people about cleanliness and toilets have been constructed in crores of families. He said that this has been possible due to the vision and willpower of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The resolution of our illustrious Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji to have a clean and developed nation is also an important goal for the people of Chhattisgarh. To achieve this goal, our state is moving rapidly towards making Chhattisgarh an ODF Plus model state, crossing new milestones every day. This is not just a goal, it is a lifestyle of cleanliness, which will lead to our development, the development of the country. So far, 5 districts, 58 development blocks and more than 16 thousand villages of our state have become ODF Plus models. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said this while flagging off 10 de-sludge vehicles from his residence premises today with the aim of strengthening the sanitation system and increasing cleanliness in rural areas.

Chief Minister Sai praised the initiative taken under Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) and said that this will help in improving the level of cleanliness in rural areas. During this, Chief Minister Sai handed over the keys and documents of de-sludge vehicles to the Sarpanch and Secretaries of Gram Panchayats of 10 different districts of the state. It is noteworthy that these vehicles will be used to remove feces from houses in villages and dispose it safely. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai said that this initiative will prove to be a big step towards cleanliness and health improvement. This will curb the diseases spreading due to dirt in rural areas. He also appealed to the public for cooperation in maintaining cleanliness. Chief Minister Sai said that to promote cleanliness, faecal sludge treatment plants are also being set up in the state, which will strengthen faecal sludge management and will also help in environmental protection. He said that under this new initiative, the state government is committed to make cleanliness campaigns more effective.

The role of Sarpanch is important in the development of the village, the Chief Minister shared his experience Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that the role of Sarpanch is most important in the development of the village. I was first a Panch, then due to good work, I was also elected unopposed Sarpanch. He said that there is only one reason to say this that Gram Panchayat is the most primary link of development and if the Panch and Sarpanch are aware of their rights and responsibilities, then it will not take time to change the picture of the village. Addressing the program, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that the state government is constantly trying to implement cleanliness on a wide scale. People living in rural areas will benefit from the availability of de-sludge vehicles. He also expressed his views on the need and utility of de-sludge vehicles.

It is worth mentioning that Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) is an important program of the government and Chhattisgarh has always been a pioneer in cleanliness programs. In Phase 1 of the mission, the state achieved the national target ahead of time by constructing more than 32 lakh toilets and created a record of being an open defecation free state. In Phase-2 of the mission, in order to establish itself as an ODF Plus model state, 57 development blocks of 5 districts of the state, namely Durg, Kabirdham, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagadh Chowki, Janjgir-Champa and Dhamtari district and more than 16 thousand villages have become ODF Plus model. In this series, with the aim of proper disposal of faeces coming out of toilets, faecal sludge treatment plants are being constructed in all the districts of the state. In these faecal sludge treatment plants, faeces coming out of septic tanks of nearby villages will be treated. On filling of the septic tank, the concerned family or institution will contact these plants and call for a de-sludge vehicle to empty the tank, for which appropriate consumer fee will be determined on the basis of distance. At present, 19 Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants have been constructed in the state.

Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai transferred de-sludge vehicles to Gram Panchayat Birkoni District Mahasamund, Gram Panchayat Temri District Raipur, Gram Panchayat Sarangpur Kala District Kabirdham, Gram Panchayat Gamhariya District Jashpur, Gram Panchayat Kotri District Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Gram Panchayat Lagra District Janjgir-Champa, Gram Panchayat Parasada Ved District Bilaspur, Gram Panchayat Ruda District Balod, Gram Panchayat Jhajhpuri Kala District Mungeli, Gram Panchayat Patharia District Durg. On this occasion, MLA Guru Khuswant Saheb, Principal Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mrs. Niharika Barik Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. P. Dayanand, Mission Director Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) Mrs. Jayshree Jain, State Head of ICICI Bank Mr. Vivekanand Dubey, officers and employees of Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) were present.
