Union Food and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal was also connected to this program through video conferencing. Addressing the program, Union Minister Goyal said that the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked to increase the honor and respect of the farmers of the country. Decisions are being taken in the interest of farmers to double the income of farmers. He said that Chhattisgarh is called the rice bowl. Chhattisgarh has a lot of paddy. There is a need to take the rice here to the world markets by value addition and branding it. This will benefit farmers and traders. He appealed to the farmers to adopt advanced agriculture and grow crops that consume less water.
Union Minister Goyal further said that the Central Government and the State Government are working together for the betterment of the farmers and the progress of the state of Chhattisgarh. He congratulated and wished the Rice Millers Promoters for organizing the India International Rice Summit in Chhattisgarh. He said that the Central Government is paying special attention to the production of nutritious rice, so that the farmers get a good price for their products. This event of Rice Millers Promoters in Chhattisgarh will prove to be a milestone for the farmers of Chhattisgarh as well as for the prosperity of the state. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, while addressing the India International Rice Summit, said that on this day Lord Shri Ramlala was seated in the Ayodhya Dham temple. Chhattisgarh is the maternal home of Mata Kaushalya and the maternal home of Lord Shri Ram. On the first anniversary of Ramlala’s enthronement, the Chief Minister congratulated and wished the people of the state and the country. Chief Minister Sai said that organizing the India International Rice Summit in the rice bowl of Chhattisgarh is a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh. He said that Chhattisgarh is known throughout the country for its paddy. Now we have to take this identity to the international level. The number of varieties of paddy we have here is not found anywhere else.
The Chief Minister said that I am a farmer’s son. I have ploughed with my own hands. I have good experience of farming. Therefore, I can say that there are so many varieties of paddy in the villages of our state, whose names are not known to everyone. When the country became independent, my grandfather was a nominated MLA, but he was always associated with farming. The paddy he used to grow was so fragrant that the entire field would smell. People passing by the house where rice was being cooked would know from the fragrance that rice was being cooked. There is a need to bring forward such varieties of Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister further said that we are giving the highest price for paddy to our farmers. Due to this, not only has the area of cultivation increased in the state, but the number of farmers has also increased. Where earlier 24 lakh farmers were registered, now more than 27 lakh farmers have been registered. The Chief Minister said that farmers get good profit in paddy crop with less hard work. Chhattisgarh’s rice should be exported to foreign countries. I appeal to the exporters to encourage the export of paddy by taking information about the varieties of paddy here so that the farmers of the state are benefited.
Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam said that the government is working in the interest of farmers under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. The help being given to the farmers by the Chhattisgarh government and the decisions taken in their interest have brought prosperity in farming and farmers’ well-being. With the aim of promoting the export of rice from the state and benefiting the farmers, Mandi fee has been completely abolished. For the betterment of the farmers, we are trying to make Chhattisgarh an open market. He appealed to the rice mill promoters to get the farmers a better price for their produce. Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University Mr. Girish Chandel, Chairman of APEDA Mr. Abhishek Dev, Mr. Alok Bisaria, President of Chhattisgarh Rice Millers Promoters Association Mr. Mukesh Jain along with rice millers and eminent stakeholders of the country were present in the program.
