Baiga families and Kotra Bundeli received national honor on Republic Day
Baiga families of Kabirdham district, who reached Delhi on the invitation of the President, attended the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi

Kawardha, 27 January 2025: The 76th Republic Day brought a historic and proud occasion for Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh. Six Baiga members of Kandavani and Teliyapani villages of Baiga dominated Kukdur tehsil area of the district and Gram Panchayat Kotra Bundeli were honored at the national level. Her Excellency President Draupadi Murmu honored six members of the Special Backward Tribe Baiga community and Gram Panchayat Kotra Bundeli on 26 January 2025. These families who reached Delhi on special invitation included Mrs. Jagatin Bai Baiga and her husband Phool Singh Baiga of Patpari village, dependent on Gram Panchayat Kandavani, Mrs. Teetri Bai Baiga and her husband Budh Singh Baiga of village Teliyapani, and Mrs. Bali Bai Baiga and her husband Sonu Ram Baiga of village Teliyapani. Members of the backward tribe Baiga family of Kabirdham district met the Prime Minister of the country Mr. Narendra Modi, Union Defense Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh, and other Union Ministers in Delhi and did joint photography with them. Mrs. Jagatin Bai Baiga, while having a special discussion with the President, informed about the progress of her village. She told that through the Prime Minister Janman Yojana, for the first time, electricity from solar energy reached her village, which changed her life.
Life changed with solar energy
Before Diwali 2024, there was darkness in the houses of these Baiga families. The district administration directed the CREDA department to electrify all 25 houses of village Patpri with solar power plant. Before Diwali, 300 watt solar home lighting systems were installed in these houses, due to which these families saw light at night for the first time. Kotra Bundeli’s achievement in Har Ghar Jal Yojana On the occasion of Republic Day, Kotra Bundeli Gram Panchayat of Kabirdham district was honored by the President for its excellent performance in the “Har Ghar Jal” scheme under Jal Jeevan Mission. Under the leadership of the Chairman of the Water and Sanitation Committee of the Gram Panchayat, the Panchayat ensured water supply to every house. Under this scheme implemented at a cost of Rs 63.80 lakh, clean drinking water facility was provided to 141 families. The water crisis was resolved by constructing a reservoir of 40 kilolitre capacity, due to which the Gram Panchayat became an example of water prosperity. An atmosphere of happiness and pride There is an atmosphere of excitement and pride among the Baiga families after getting the opportunity to go to Delhi and meet the President. Mrs. Jagatin Bai Baiga got emotional and said that this is like a dream come true. Earlier there was darkness in our village, but now there is light due to solar energy. Meeting the President is the biggest honour of our life.
