Raipur 3 January 2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has directed the officers of the Excise Department to take strict action in coordination with the Police Department to effectively control the manufacture, possession, transportation and sale of illegal liquor in the state. He said that keep the excise check posts established in the border districts of the state functional. Ensure regular intensive checking of distilleries, bottling units, hotels, bars, clubs located in the state. Chief Minister Sai gave these instructions during the review meeting of the works of the Excise Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan today.
Chief Minister Sai said that prompt action should be taken as per rules on the applications received for new bottling unit of country liquor in the state and the manufacturing units of liquor manufactured outside Chhattisgarh should be encouraged to set up their own manufacturing plants in Chhattisgarh. For this, they should be provided a work-friendly environment, so that local people can get employment. The Chief Minister directed to expedite the recruitment process for the vacant posts of the Excise Department.
He directed to study the Mahua policy prevalent in other states so that better means of income can be made available to Mahua collector forest dwellers. The Chief Minister appreciated the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) implemented by the department regarding the attendance of personnel working in liquor shops. Similarly, instructions were given in the meeting to maintain the confidentiality of the user data in the ‘Manpasand App’ launched to enable consumers of country and foreign liquor to get information about the availability of liquor as per their choice and to take prompt action on the suggestions and complaints received in the app. Instructions were also given in the meeting to maintain necessary cleanliness in liquor shops, proper display of liquor brand-label and to ensure updated maintenance of prescribed registers.

Dayanand and Mr. Basavaraju S., Secretary cum Commissioner Excise Ms. R. Sangeeta, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Beverages Corporation and Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited Mr. Shyam Lal Dhavade, Special Secretary (Excise) Mr. Devendra Singh Bhardwaj and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
