Chhattisgarh government’s decision will give boost to rice industry
Raipur, 01 January 2025: As per the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to give complete exemption to rice exporters from Mandi fee and Krishak Kalyan fee to encourage the rice industry of Chhattisgarh and to promote the export of non-Basmati rice from the state. This exemption will be given to those exporters who will export non-Basmati rice prepared from paddy purchased through rice millers and mandis of the state. The purpose of giving exemption in duty is to promote non-Basmati rice export from Chhattisgarh and to provide more benefits to the farmers and rice millers of the state. This decision of the government will help in making the rice industry of Chhattisgarh competitive in the national and international markets.
The notification of exemption in Mandi fee and Kisan Kalyan by the Chhattisgarh government has been issued for publication in the gazette. This exemption will be for one year from the date of publication of the notification. To get exemption in both the above charges, rice exporters have to ensure that the origin of the rice cargo is mentioned as Chhattisgarh in their shipping bill. Apart from this, a copy of Chhattisgarh’s Goods and Services Tax statement, Bill of Lading, and Bank Re-conciliation Statement has to be submitted to the concerned Mandi. Registered rice exporters and rice millers of the state have to give a declaration clearly indicating that the rice has been prepared from paddy purchased from Chhattisgarh. Rice millers have to issue permits to rice exporters under the Mandi Act.
