Raipur: The central government has increased the housing assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Chhattisgarh. Instead of Rs. 3.21 lakh per house, beneficiaries will now receive Rs. 3.89 lakh. The recent cabinet meeting held by the central government on Sunday has brought several good news for the beneficiaries of this housing scheme. During this meeting, the government made a series of important decisions to boost the financial aid for the people benefiting from the scheme. In a landmark move, the state cabinet approved a grant of Rs. 3938.80 crore to provide homes to 1.32 lakh families from weaker income groups under the first phase of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0. This includes the mandatory state share of Rs. 1,450 crore, an additional state share of Rs. 538.80 crore, and the central share of Rs. 1,950 crore.
Increase in Beneficiary-Based Construction (BLC) According to the new decisions, under the Beneficiary Based Construction (BLC) component of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, the amount given per house will now be raised from Rs. 3.21 lakh to Rs. 3.89 lakh. The state government has decided to increase the state share, which was previously Rs. 85,000, by 63% to now provide Rs. 1.39 lakh per house. This increase will benefit one lakh beneficiaries from the weaker income group. Additionally, the amount given under the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) component has been raised from Rs. 4.75 lakh per house to Rs. 5.75 lakh. The state’s contribution, which was Rs. 2.5 lakh per house, has also been increased by 12% to Rs. 2.8 lakh. This decision will benefit 27,000 families under the affordable housing scheme.
