Now Pollution Check Of Vehicles Will Also Be Done At Petrol Pumps In Chhattisgarh: Important Decision Taken In The Meeting Between Transport Department And Petroleum Companies

Raipur 07 February 2025: To control environmental pollution, now pollution testing centers (PUC) of vehicles will be set up at petrol pumps in Chhattisgarh. Petroleum companies have given their consent for this. With the establishment of pollution testing centers at petrol pumps, drivers will find it easy to get PUC certificates and they will not have to wander in search of other centers. Apart from this, this initiative will be helpful in controlling air pollution caused by vehicles and an important step towards environmental protection in the state.

It is worth noting that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai had given instructions to take effective steps to prevent air pollution caused by vehicle smoke in the review meeting of the Transport Department on 4 February 2025. Under this, an important meeting was held on 7 February 2025 under the chairmanship of Transport Secretary and Transport Commissioner Shri S. Prakash and Additional Transport Commissioner Shri D. Ravishankar. Senior officials of Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum and Reliance Industries participated in this meeting. In the meeting, the representatives of petroleum companies agreed to set up pollution testing centers (PUC centers) in their petrol pumps. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Central Government, so that the health of the general public can be ensured by controlling air pollution. Chief Manager of Indian Oil Corporation Mr. Upendra Giri, Chief Manager of Bharat Petroleum Mr. B. Devkumar, Manager of Reliance Industries Limited Mr. Shreyas Gupta and Chief Manager of Hindustan Petroleum Mr. Gautam Kumar along with other officials of Transport Department and Petroleum Companies were present in the meeting.
