Raipur – Today, the meeting of the Corporation General Assembly (Budget) started with the national anthem and Chhattisgarh state song under the chairmanship of Chairman Suryakant Rathore in the Corporation General Assembly Auditorium located on the fourth floor of Mahatma Gandhi Sadan, the headquarters building of Municipal Corporation Raipur. The Chairman proposed to express gratitude to the former Prime Minister of the Republic of India, respected Atal Bihari Vajpayee for creating the state of Chhattisgarh, which was supported by Mayor Mrs. Meenal Choubey, Leader of Opposition Sandeep Sahu and all the councilors present by thumping the table. The Chairman described the famous litterateur Vinod Kumar Shukla, a resident of Shailendra Nagar Raipur and Jnanpith Award winner, as the pride of the entire Chhattisgarh state. Mayor Mrs. Meenal Choubey and the member-in-charge of the Finance Department Mahendra Khodiyar reached the dais and presented the first copy of the Corporation Budget for the financial year 2025-26. After this, the Mayor and the member-in-charge of the Finance Department presented a copy of the Corporation’s budget to the Leader of Opposition Sandeep Sahu and Corporation Commissioner Vishwadeep. Initially, the minutes of the pre-assembly meeting were confirmed. Question hour proceedings did not take place as no question was received by the scheduled time. Mayor Mrs. Meenal Chaubey presented the first budget of her tenure in the corporation house. In this, information about initial balance of 67 crore 11 lakh 41 thousand, total annual income of 1462 crore 41 lakh 87 thousand, total expenditure of 1529 crore 53 lakh 28 thousand, final balance of 79 lakh 45 thousand profit was presented in the budget speech by the mayor in the corporation house.
