Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao distributed PPE kits to sanitation workers

Raipur 13 December 2024 Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister  Arun Sao today provided PPE kits to 38 employees cleaning sewers and septic tanks under the Namaste (National Action for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem) scheme. Addressing the PPE kit distribution program organized at his residential office in Raipur, he said that no work is small or big. Work done with full concentration and seriousness makes a person great. He said that when Narendra Modi, the son of a poor mother, became the Prime Minister of the country, such schemes came to fruition which no one had imagined in 70 years. The Modi government in the country and the Vishnu Dev government in Chhattisgarh are working for the welfare of the poor.  Sao said that it is the responsibility of the government to protect the sewer and septic tank cleaning workers working in the interest of the society and the country and the welfare of their families. The Chhattisgarh government is fulfilling the responsibility of education of children of sanitation workers, safety of family and health. Deputy Chief Minister Sao told all sewer and septic tank sanitation workers to be aware of their self-protection, never be negligent in this. Make full use of the PPE kit given by the government for your safety during work. He hoped that the use of PPE kit will create a safe working environment among sewer and septic tank sanitation workers.

Many officials of Urban Administration Department and Raipur Municipal Corporation including SUDA Chief Executive Officer Shashank Pandey, Additional Chief Executive Officer Dushyant Kumar and Raipur Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Rajendra Prasad Gupta were also present in the program. The Namaste scheme is being jointly operated in the urban bodies of the country by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and Social Justice and Empowerment of the Central Government. In Chhattisgarh, SUDA (State Urban Development Agency) is providing PPE kits to the employees cleaning sewer and septic tanks to provide safe and respectable working conditions. Under this, 711 employees in 169 urban bodies of the state will be given PPE kits. Along with two pairs of PPE kit dress, they will be provided gum boots, helmet, gloves, mask and glasses for eye protection. The main objective of Namaste Yojana is to completely eliminate the practice of manual scavenging, mechanize sanitation work and provide permanent means of livelihood to sewer and septic tank cleaning workers. It is being operated by the National Safai Karamchari Finance Development Corporation.
