Development of sports in Chhattisgarh will get a new dimension: IOA expert team will come to Chhattisgarh and guide the players

Raipur, 20 February 2025 – Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President and Rajya Sabha MP Smt. P.T. Usha paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai in New Delhi today. In this important meeting, there was a comprehensive discussion on the development of sports in Chhattisgarh, training of young players, strengthening of sports infrastructure and preparations of the state for Olympic level competitions. Chief Minister Shri Sai reiterated the government’s commitment to get sports talents in the state recognized at the national and international level and said that the Chhattisgarh government is constantly striving for the all-round development of the players. He said that the state government has announced to give incentives of Rs 3 crore to the players of Chhattisgarh who win gold medal in the Olympics, Rs 2 crore to the silver medal winner and Rs 1 crore to the bronze medal winner. IOA’s expert team will provide high-level training to the players During the meeting, Smt. P.T. Usha spoke about sending a special delegation by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to guide the players in Chhattisgarh. She said that this team will include experienced coaches and experts of various sports, who will train the local players for Olympic level competitions and help in improving their sports techniques. She emphasized that there is no dearth of sports talent in Chhattisgarh, and if they get the right guidance and resources, they can excel at national and international sports forums. Smt. Usha appreciated the efforts of the Chhattisgarh Government to promote sports in the state and called it an exemplary example for India’s sports promotion model.

Events like Bastar Olympics and Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon will give new flight to sports talents Chief Minister Sai said that the State Government is successfully conducting special sports events to increase the interest of youth towards sports and to hone the hidden talents. He said that recently ‘Bastar Olympics’ was organized, in which more than 1.65 lakh youth participated. The main objective of this event was to prepare local sports talent for competition at national and international level. He informed that ‘Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon’ will be organized on March 2, 2025, in which more than 5000 young participants will participate. This prestigious marathon will be organized in three categories – 21 km, 10 km and 5 km. Through such events, the government is motivating the youth towards sports and is committed to develop the state as a strong sports hub. This partnership between the Chhattisgarh government and the Indian Olympic Association will give a new dimension to the development of sports in the state.
