Raipur. 7 January 2025: The Public Works Department has suspended the registration of Bijapur contractor Suresh Chandrakar with immediate effect and cancelled all the works given to him. Suresh Chandrakar’s registration has been suspended by the Chief Engineer’s Office on the recommendation of the departmental Chief Engineer of Bastar Zone Jagdalpur. The Chief Engineer had recommended the suspension of the registration of Suresh Chandrakar, an “A” class contractor registered in the Public Works Department, as he was published in newspapers as the main accused in the murder case of Bijapur journalist Mukesh Chandrakar and was arrested.
Keeping in view the recommendation of the Chief Engineer, the department has suspended Suresh Chandrakar’s registration with immediate effect. At the same time, all the works given to Suresh Chandrakar have been canceled due to the road construction works being found closed for a long time and the slow pace of work.
