Chief Ministers’ Wealth: Vishnu Dev Sai Holds Ninth Position

Vishnu Dev Sai: Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is the richest chief minister in the country, with a total wealth of over ₹931 crores. However, he also has liabilities exceeding ₹10 crores. On the other hand, West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has the least wealth among all chief ministers, with just ₹15 lakhs to her name. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Dev Sai, ranks ninth with a total wealth of ₹3.80 crores. This information was shared in a report released on Monday by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). According to the report, the average wealth of chief ministers across states and union territories is ₹52.59 crores. Interestingly, the total wealth of all 31 chief ministers in the country is around ₹1,630 crores. Among these leaders, only two women are included: Mamata Banerjee from Bengal and Atishi from Delhi.

In terms of national income, India’s per capita net national income for the fiscal year 2023-24 was ₹1,85,854. In contrast, the average income of chief ministers was ₹13,64,310, which is about 7.3 times higher than the average per capita income. Arunachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister Pema Khandu is the second richest, with a wealth of over ₹332 crores. However, he also has the highest liabilities at ₹180 crores. Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ranks third among the wealthiest, with assets exceeding ₹51 crores, but he too has liabilities amounting to ₹23 crores.
