Raipur. The Excise Department in the state is continuously taking action along with strict monitoring on irregularities and illegal activities related to sale of liquor. Secretary Excise cum Commissioner Smt. R. Shangita held a meeting of all the placement agencies operating liquor shops in the state and warned of strict action against selling liquor in liquor shops in excess of the limit prescribed by the government.
It is noteworthy that at present CSMCL, a public undertaking of the state government, is running in the state. The liquor shops are being operated by the employees of placement agencies. Placement agencies are also monitoring their vendors, which has now controlled the sale of liquor in huge quantities from liquor shops to liquor vendors.
This is being stopped by taking strict action against over-rating, adulteration and supply of liquor to coaches from liquor shops operating in the state. Liquor is being sold from liquor shops to customers only within the prescribed limit. If any person demands liquor in quantity exceeding this prescribed limit or commits any kind of criminal act in a liquor shop, then instructions have been given to take strict legal action against him.
In the same sequence, the salesman of country liquor shop Bhatapara 01 (Surkhi Road) located in Balodabazar district was asked for more than 10 pav of country liquor by the local liquor Kochiya. When the salesman refused to give liquor to Kochi, he beat up the employees. The above incident of assault came to light on 03 February 2024. In this regard, on the application of the victim salesman Shri Rakesh Singh Thakur, the local police registered the FIR in Bhatapara City police station on 03 February. A case has been registered in crime number 0062/24 under sections 294, 323, 506 and 34 and action has been taken. According to the information received from the police station, accused Sonu Nishad is accused in many criminal cases like selling illegal liquor, assault and has also gone to jail. At present investigation is going on in the case.
